God’s Blessing for All!

We all have people we really like to be around. You might be thinking about a grandparent or a friend of your family. One of the greatest things about visiting might be that they give us special things when they take care of us. It’s also a great feeling to bless others by giving gifts and caring for them. If any of us were asked if we’d like to receive God's blessing, I don’t think we’d ever say no! Who doesn’t want to be blessed by the God of the universe? We love that in this Psalm, we are told that the reason God blesses us is so that “[His] ways may be known on Earth and [His] salvation among all the nations.” Sometimes we can get caught up with our own needs and desires, and we forget that there is a world full of people around us who need God's love and blessing. As followers of Jesus, we have the honour of being the ones to share His love and goodness with everyone we encounter. It would be life-changing and even world-changing if everyone could see that “He rules the people with equality and guides the nations of the Earth.”

David’s heart is so pure when He writes that he wants God to bless him so that the ends of the Earth will know and fear the Lord. That's a pretty unselfish prayer, don't you think? It would be incredible if all of us had that same heart. It would be world-changing if our desire to be blessed and filled with God's goodness were not just for our own gain, but so that His love and kingdom could overflow to the ends of the Earth.
