Who Am I?

DAY 7 OF 7

I Confess

We do not gain God’s righteousness by our works.

We gain our salvation by confessing with our mouth and believing in our hearts in the person and work of Jesus Christ. To confess is to agree with. We confess, agree with God that Jesus is the Messiah and that the cross is the finished work of Christ, the only way to salvation. Jesus’ death and resurrection saves us from sin, death, Satan, our old human nature, and a pattern of worldly living.

We are to confess that Jesus is Lord. “If a man called Jesus kurios he was ranking him with the Emperor and with God; he was giving him the supreme place in his life; he was pledging him implicit obedience and reverent worship.” (Barclay).

We can only confess that which we believe. Mere intellectual agreement with the facts of the cross and the resurrection are not enough, we are to believe with our hearts. Believing with our hearts takes being able to trust and depend on Him. Knowing we are image-bearers, deeply loved, children of the King of kings and the Lord of lords, what is our reasonable response?

Do you believe?

Yes, Lord, I do believe and confess with my mouth that you are indeed Lord and my salvation is in you.

About this Plan

Who Am I?

The question of identity is one that has plagued humankind through the ages. Our understanding of this all-important question is often the result of what we have been told by our parents, family, teachers, and friends. Words that people have spoken to us, tend to define our understanding of ourselves. But should they? Explore what the Bible says through this plan from Find Rest My Soul by Preethi Alice Jacob.
