Unique Parentage
The Apostle John is amazed at the manner of God’s love.
John calls us to behold, to pause, and think about the manner of God’s love that has been bestowed on us. To bestow is to confer honor, right, or gift. God bestows His love upon us, in lavish measure. He did not just get us out of the miry clay of sin but went over and beyond by making us a part of His family.
We have a unique parentage. The greatness of God’s love is that He calls us His children (2 Corinthians 6:18). Jesus, the Son of God, is not ashamed to call us His brethren (Hebrews 2:11). The Holy Spirit of God Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). We are not part of or recognized by the world. Only those who receive the love and salvation that is ours through Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection, have the right to be His children (John 1:12).
Have you made the choice to accept the gift of salvation, making you His child? If not, what's stopping you?
Lord help me never lose the wonder of being your child, deeply loved by you, I pray.
About this Plan
The question of identity is one that has plagued humankind through the ages. Our understanding of this all-important question is often the result of what we have been told by our parents, family, teachers, and friends. Words that people have spoken to us, tend to define our understanding of ourselves. But should they? Explore what the Bible says through this plan from Find Rest My Soul by Preethi Alice Jacob.
