DAY 7 OF 7

“You Can Do It!”

GOD’S WORD: Trust

READ:
“Are we there yet?” asked Ada, huffing and puffing. This was her first hike, ever.
Manny stopped. “Do you need a rest, Ada? We still have a long way to go!”
“I don’t think I can do it,” said Ada.
“Water break!” Manny’s dad announced. He handed Ada a drink.
“I promise,” said Manny, “you can do it. We always finish together. Here, let me carry your bag.”
“Thanks, Manny,” said Ada.

ASK: Have you ever been on a hike or walked a long way? Did you ever want to give up? Manny helped because he wanted Ada to finish with him. Who is a friend who helps you?

SAY: Your life is kind of like a long walk with Jesus. It’s like a hike with God! Even when you get tired or want to give up, God promises you will finish. “We always finish together,” says Jesus. “Don’t give up! I am here to help!”

PRAY: Dear Jesus, I want to walk with you all of my life. Thank you for taking what is too heavy for me to carry. Let’s finish together. Amen.

ADA’S CHOICE:
“Okay,” said Ada. “I’ll keep going.”
Whenever Ada needed a rest, Manny stopped, too. When Ada was discouraged, Manny used words to lift her up. “Good job, Ada!” “You’re doing great!” “Keep drinking!” “Almost there!”
When the hike was over, Manny jumped up and down. “I knew you could do it!”
Ada gave Manny a high-five and added, “Because you were with me.”

About this Plan

G.R.A.S.P.

The Grasp family reading plan guides family interaction as it helps children aged preschool-elementary to better grasp what God’s words mean for them. Using the acronym GRASP (God’s Word. Read. Ask. Say. Pray), parents will discover the simplicity of teaching God’s Word. Before meals, school, or bed, even a few minutes will prove powerful as families learn with one another through the adventures of Manny and Ada.
