DAY 2 OF 7

"Follow Me!”

GOD’S WORD: Follow

READ:
“Manny! Wait!” yelled Ada, trying hard to keep up. She followed Manny into his backyard. “Whoa! You got a climbing wall?”
“Sure did! Want to climb it?” asked Manny.
“What about our after-school snack?” asked Ada.
“Oh, come on, Ada. I know you’ll like what’s on top!”
Ada stepped back. “Maybe I’ll just watch.”

ASK: Have you ever been afraid to do something? Did your parent or friend go first? Ada was afraid. Do you think Ada will climb the wall?

SAY: Jesus says, “Follow me!” because he is our leader. We are to go where Jesus goes and do what Jesus does. But don’t you worry. God promises we will like where Jesus leads us. If we just watch, we’ll never know what is waiting for us. Let’s follow Jesus!

PRAY: Dear Jesus, thank you for inviting me to follow you. Lead me to be like you. Amen.

ADA’S CHOICE:
“Okay,” said Ada. “I’ll try.”
“Step where I step,” said Manny. “Hold where I hold, and you’ll reach the top. Ready?”
Ada nodded.
“Follow me!” shouted Manny. Ada watched closely and did just what Manny did. Before she knew it, Manny cheered, “You did it!” and put a cookie in her hand.
“Thanks for leading,” said Ada. “But where’d this cookie come from?”
“Surprise, again!” said Manny. “Mom put our snack up here today.”
Ada ate the cookie in one giant bite. “I told you you’d like what’s on top,” said Manny.

About this Plan

G.R.A.S.P.

The Grasp family reading plan guides family interaction as it helps children aged preschool-elementary to better grasp what God’s words mean for them. Using the acronym GRASP (God’s Word. Read. Ask. Say. Pray), parents will discover the simplicity of teaching God’s Word. Before meals, school, or bed, even a few minutes will prove powerful as families learn with one another through the adventures of Manny and Ada.
