The Candles
Every year, Christians all over the world light candles. The lighting of the candles has meaning behind it. Whenever the green candle is lit, it reminds them of their faith. The blue candle symbolizes hope. A gold candle symbolizes love, and the purple candle symbolizes repentance. We called this Advent, and it means the preparing of our heart for the coming of Christ.
Long ago, God’s people waited and waited for the coming of the Messiah. They experienced all kinds of hurt and oppression. Whenever they lit candles, it reminded them to keep hope and faith. That one day, the Messiah would come.
John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
No matter what challenges we face, remember that the light of Jesus is inside us is stronger than the hard times. His light shines forever and ever.
