The Hope of Christmas

DAY 5 OF 10

The Candy Cane

Long ago, a candy maker took a sugary candy stick and added color and flavor to it to show us the true meaning of Christmas. A hook was formed so it would look like a shepherd’s stick, but if turned upside down it would look like  a ‘J’ to represent Jesus. The large red stripe represented the blood that Jesus shed, while the white represented the purity of Christ. Jesus never had sin, for He was perfect and holy. Today, it reminds us that just like a shepherd, Jesus will take care of us, and He will be there for us when we need Him.

Every time we eat a candy cane, it can  remind us of what Psalm 34:8 tells us. Which is, “...taste and see that the Lord is good.”

We give our life to Jesus and follow Him. We find that Jesus is good. Jesus is kind. Jesus is loving. We get to see and experience his goodness.

Challenge: Take time to chat with mom and dad about what good things you have experienced this season because of God.
