Eat This BookSample
Read: Psalm 120
Process: Meshech and Kedar were cities filled with turmoil and hate toward God. If you were to pull out a map of the United States, how many cities would these two places bring to mind?
The author uses this word “sojourn” in verse 5 and it can easily be overlooked. Sojourn, “guwr” translated in Greek, means “to be a stranger.” Although they are people of God, they are strangers in the land and recognized that they do not belong. How many of us relate to this feeling in our culture? How many of us yearn to belong to something that also may feel like a stranger to us?
Act: As the world continues to distance itself from God, we begin to have this feeling that we sojourn in this world. There is an answer for us to flee to when we feel like an outcast in this world. We are anything but an outcast. We are not called to flee the lies and hate of this world, but we are called to turn to God! Our identity is that of Christ. You and I are not and will never be strangers to Him.
Prayer: Lord, as we continue on our journey, we cry out to You for peace and know our destination is a place of peace and comfort. We can rejoice today knowing that Heaven awaits us! Allow us to EAT THIS BOOK in such a way that it prepares us now for what is to come.
