Eat This BookSample
Read: Isaiah 26:3
Process: According to a recent study, 11 percent of the United States population is afraid of the dark. Maybe you are a part of that 11 percent. As parents, my wife and I have entered the “nightmare” age with our young boys. Fighting sleep deprivation, we began to brainstorm how to help them. As a child of the 1980s, I quickly remembered the glow-in-the-dark stars that many people would stick to their ceilings. That little bit of light provided “perfect peace” to take my mind off of my phobias and help me get back to sleep.
A couple days later, with the stars shipped and now stuck to the ceiling, peace and sleep were restored to our home.
Act: Our phobias and anxieties really can hinder our relationship with Jesus. We are reminded that, like having a little light in our room at night, God is our source for peace during situations that create anxiety.
Prayer: Lord, we thank You for Your love and mercy each and every day. Thank You for being our guide and light in this dark world so that we can rest in the perfect peace that only You can provide when our eyes are stuck on you! Allow us to gaze at Your perfect peace as we glance at the world around, gaining wisdom and focus by EATING THIS BOOK.
