Eat This BookSample
Read: John 6:48-51
Process: I love how Jesus gives us this imagery of something tangible. We can relate to having a hunger for food. We understand that our bodies need nutrients in order to survive. Jesus knows this is a reality for all human beings, which makes it personal and relevant. This tangible image allows us to understand that our spiritual bodies need food as well.
Act: On the food we consume each day, the labels contain information about the macro-nutrients we need based on a 2,00-calorie diet. In order to survive physically, we do our best to meet or exceed these daily calories. Physically and spiritually, if we want to get the correct amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fat each day, we need to feed on the “bread of life.” Are we “eating” in order to just survive, or are we eating to thrive in our spiritual bodies?
Pray: Lord, help me understand that Scripture is more than just ink on paper. Your Word is food for my spiritual body. Teach me that in order to grow in my faith, I need to consume the right things from your Word. Help me EAT THIS BOOK! – Amen.
