There's Hope For Today

DAY 208 OF 366

Carpet cleaners, electricians, landscapers, painters, sound technicians, computer consultants, copier repairmen, plumbers, carpenters, and pest control; they’re like a second family when a church has multiple buildings.

If you build it, you had better be ready to maintain it, lest you lose it to fire, termites, flooding, or disrepair. Life can be just like that. We scratch and claw to obtain, only to fail to maintain. Satisfied with escaping the fires of hell, we slack off on spiritual growth. We’re happy to have a spiritual experience every so often to pump us up, rather than digging in the Word, and taking in our daily bread. We’re like spoiled children who leave their new toys out to rust.

Salvation is the starting line, not the finish line. Spiritual growth is a conscientious process, rather than a spiritual byproduct. When the house is falling apart, we need to fix it fast, and fix it right. Small oversights spell disaster.

The Holy Spirit is our Heavenly Building Inspector. He is the consummate professional – never missing the tiniest detail. He’ll come at a moment’s notice, if only we will ask. Are you past due for inspection?
