There's Hope For TodaySample
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Jennifer Smith, a OneHope Intern, wrote: “After we finished one of our school distributions, we stopped at the store to get a few snacks. One of the girls working at the store had a copy of the Book of Hope with her. I asked her if she had read the book and if she was enjoying it. She said that she was and pointed to a section of the book that talks about prayer. She told me that her teacher had made an assignment for her class to read from the book. The next day they would discuss it in class.” “We went into the schools of the Dominican Republic praying that God would touch lives with the Book of Hope; that God would motivate people to read the book. He went way beyond our expectations. He used teachers to insure that students were reading His Word.”
God always goes “way beyond our expectations.” A god defined by our plans and strategies would be a god confined to our puny limitations. The cross makes the point with stunning emphasis.
It never occurred to the Jews (nor to anyone) that God would come in flesh and offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of man. Who could have imagined such a strategy? Only the One who loves us beyond all expectations.
