There's Hope For TodaySample
The most important question in the world is asked at an empty tomb: “Did Jesus Christ rise from the dead?”
If it is not true, Jesus was a liar or a lunatic; anything but a good man. If it is not true, the church is a predatory fraud. If it is not true, man is the product of incalculable chance, a cosmic accident. If it is not true, there is no meaning, no transcendent purpose in our existence. If it is not true, we must agree with the atheist Bertrand Russell who issued the following joint statement with Albert Einstein just two days before the latter died: “Those of us who know the most are the gloomiest about the future.”
Human history argues convincingly for our ultimate self-annihilation. If the empty tomb is an empty lie then we are to be pitied. But if it is true that Jesus rose from the dead … then He was, and is, God; and we were, and are, His crowning creation. And a man must be ignorant, arrogant, misinformed or just plain crazy to reject Him.
What happened in a Jerusalem graveyard some two thousand years ago continues to be the most important question, and most liberating answer the world has ever known.
