There's Hope For Today

DAY 116 OF 366

God’s first question for man was, “Where are you?” When Adam failed to show up, and own up to his actions, man’s quest for identity and purpose moved outside of God and the garden.

We’re still struggling with the question, “Where are we?” Outside of Christ we don’t know who we are, why we are, or where we are going. Man’s search for meaning is ultimately frustrated in a world of irony, hypocrisy, and paradox. One claims to have found meaning in meditation. Another claims to have found meaning in medication. Still another asserts that life’s ultimate meaning is meaninglessness. The search goes on amidst false hopes and frothy ideologies. Possessions fail to satisfy. Pleasure fails to sustain itself. Power breeds corruption. Philosophies drill dry holes around the question.

It’s really not so complicated. When you don’t know where you are, you’re lost. That’s how the Bible characterizes us apart from Christ ... lost. Most of us are very slow to admit it – Adam’s final legacy. There is only one sure answer to God’s first question; one sure and certain address for the lost and wretched soul. In Christ, my soul takes refuge. In Christ, the lost are found. In Christ, my quest is over.
