There's Hope For Today

DAY 114 OF 366

Something’s wrong! You just haven’t felt good. Your family has a history of cancer, but you won’t let your mind dwell on it. Something says you should go see the doctor but there’s another voice telling you it will go away. Fear keeps you from seeking the truth. Fear keeps you from the very one who may be able to effect a cure.

Fear locks down your future – you’re afraid to ask.

You’re not alone. Some of us are afraid to ask what happened. What happened to our relationship? Where did things go wrong? We live with acid suspicions because we’re afraid of the truth that might be revealed – afraid to ask.

Jesus made it very clear that truth is liberating. Sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes the truth reveals what we would have preferred to keep hidden. Sometimes the truth is expensive. Sometimes the truth is convicting. But always, the truth liberates where ignorance imprisons.

The disciples were worried over the radical, inscrutable nature of Jesus’ teaching. He was predicting His own death, and death didn’t figure into their plans. In the final analysis, fear cost them a glorious revelation. Think about it. He was talking about God’s marvelous plan of redemption, and they were afraid to ask.
