Abiding in the PsalmsSample
A Heavenly View
This psalm is simple, beautiful and powerful. The glory of creation proclaims the glory of the God who created it, while the holiness of the law reveals the holiness of the God who wrote it. It’s when we are inspired by creation, to have the majesty and wonder of God impressed upon our heart, that we are able to see the beauty of His law, its perfection, refreshment, light and purity. When led by the heavens, our hearts begin to behold the glory of God and the law “gives joy to the heart”.
In the last four verses, this psalm turns to application. If God’s glory and perfect law are in one hand, then our obedience is in the other. For us, obedience looks different this side of Jesus; however, the application remains. There is no hint of begrudging obedience nor obligation. Instead, we are shown a heart caught up in God, and one which joyfully follows His will.
Questions
1. Have you ever looked at creation to help you reflect on God? If so, what aspect of God's creation speaks the loudest to you?
2. In our walk as followers of Jesus, we are called to be obedient to Him. Have you ever seen that call to obedience as beautiful or as something that fills your heart with joy?
3. When can you take time to follow the order of this psalm? First, reflect on how creation reveals God, then look for beauty in the way He calls us to live. Finally, see where in your life you may need to ask for forgiveness.
Pray
We are given a prayer in the final verse of this psalm. Spend some time praying that your meditation on God - the Creator of the universe and Writer of the law - would cause your words and your heart to be pleasing to God, as you are pleased to know Him as your Rock and Redeemer.

About this Plan
The Psalms express the feelings and emotions that sometimes we find too hard to express to God by ourselves. Through diving into the Psalms and their different forms , the aim is that readers can lead prayer-filled lives, crying out, praising and worshipping our God through every season and in every moment.
