Coronavirus: Do Not Fear!

DAY 3 OF 7

What was your first thought waking up this morning?

What’s the first thought that comes into your mind when you wake up in the morning? Do you look forward to the new day ahead of you, rejoicing in it? Do you declare, as you roll out of bed: “Your mercies are new this morning. Glory to You, Lord! I’m victorious over all my enemies!”?

Or are your thoughts more along the lines of: “This day is going to be so difficult. I wish it were over already! I wonder what bad reports the news will bring...”? Are you consumed with negative thoughts about the Coronavirus? Perhaps your heart is filled with grief from the loss of someone dear to you during this trial. Is fear for your family’s safety like a rising wave in your heart, a wave so strong and high you feel it could swallow you whole? Does it seem like you have no chance against it?

I want to encourage you not to let these thoughts drown you, my friend. Jeremiah 1:8 says, “‘Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,’ declares the LORD.” (NIV)

I don’t know the “them” frightening you at this time, but I know the God who says, “I am with you and will rescue you.” When anxiety knocks on the door of your heart, firmly answer that your God is greater than any and every source of anxiety because He is the source of all life, all peace, and all joy. (see Romans 15:13)  Declare that this God lives in you!

Let’s pray together now…“Lord, You are greater than the source of my worries. You know the details of the situation I find myself in right now. You know the state of my heart perfectly, better than any man, better than any doctor. You can take care of me and rescue me from fear better than anyone. Thank You for Your life that’s increasing within me and Your peace that I receive right now. In Jesus’ name, amen!”

Thanks for existing!
