The Eternal Gospel – Both Good News and Bad News
Revelation 14:6-7
“Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth – to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come…’”
Does our understanding and presentation of the eternal gospel also include the fear of the Lord and his judgment?
God promises forgiveness and new life in Christ for those who accept his gift of salvation. However, God’s wrath against sin does not just mean the death of Christ on a cross, but also ongoing judgments throughout history, culminating in the final judgment. Sin will not go unpunished for those who have not found refuge in the blood of the Lamb. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We give God glory because he alone is worthy of our worship and praise!
Lord Jesus, I humble myself before you. I pray for boldness to share both the good news and the bad news in the gospel – for your glory.
