Return and Live
Ezekiel 33:10-11
“Son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘this is what you are saying: “Our offences and sins weigh us down and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?” ’ Say to them, ‘As surely as I live,’ declares the Sovereign Lord, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?’ ”
The weight of sin on our souls can rob us of the enjoyment of life. We feel pressure on our chest, we feel distance in our relationships, we lack peace as we sleep because we are not at peace with God and others. The weight of sin can be crippling. The path to freedom requires that we turn around and go the opposite direction. We agree with God’s word and repent for our sin. We turn away from sinful choices back to God’s way. We receive the forgiveness Christ offered us by dying in our place for our sins and we resist the lies and presence of evil, in the authority of Christ Jesus. We turn toward Jesus and fix our eyes on Him.
Lord Jesus, I respond to your call to return back to you today. My heart is yours. Thank you for your forgiveness and freedom.
