Overcomers
Revelation 12:17
“…the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring – those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”
Revelation 12:11
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
When we give our lives to Jesus, we become born again, offspring or children of God, and we also gain a mortal enemy named Satan. This fallen angel who led a rebellion in heaven is personified in John’s revelation as a dragon who makes war against God’s family. We overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb, the daily forgiveness and freedom from the guilt of sin and death that is stronger than any other blood sacrifice. We overcome Satan by the word of our testimony, the testimony of Jesus’ transforming, saving power and gospel. We overcome Satan by not loving our lives unto death. The early church grew in places like North Africa through the courageous, peaceful way Christians died in arenas full of curious spectators. We have a living hope in Jesus and his resurrection life that changes how we face death. Death has been overcome by Jesus and eternal life is the reality of all overcomers. This battle has been won!
Lord Jesus, I desire to live an overcoming life and testimony this day for your glory.
