Kingdom Prayers
Revelation 8:3-5
“Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth…”
Our prayers are not enough to move the hand of God. They must be combined with God’s holiness, purging fire and sovereign will. We are invited to intercede for the nations and for the coming of Christ’s Kingdom and will to be done, but we mix that prayer with many others that reflect our will and perhaps not God’s. Our prayers are placed on the altar and the fire of God, His holiness, refines and purges those prayers of all that is not a pleasing incense aroma to God. Only then are they poured out on the earth to fulfill God’s purposes. Prayer is our opportunity to cooperate with God and His sovereign will.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your invitation to seek first your kingdom and righteousness, to pray, ‘Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’
