Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 208 OF 365

Awakened Ears

Isaiah 50:4-5
“The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, I have not been rebellious, I have not drawn back.”

Isaiah 51:1, 4, 7, 21
“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord…Listen to me my people; hear me….Hear me you who know what is right…hear this you afflicted one…”

God has spoken, is speaking, and will speak. God is not silent.

Are we listening?

Have we asked God for an awakened ear to listen?

Or have we drawn back and defined our relationship as a one way communication?

The key to an instructed tongue is a listening ear. The promptings of the Spirit and the written word of God give us fresh words to share with weary people. Weary people desire to know if God is still alive – if He cares about them and their circumstances. We need fresh bread every day to share with God’s people. We get that fresh bread from the presence of the Word.

Lord God Almighty, thank you that you still communicate today through your Spirit. Thank you that your Word is living and active and still penetrates hearts. May your word be alive in me today so that I walk in your ways and have something to share with weary people.
