Born of the Spirit
John 3:6
“No one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”
The cleansing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives washes us from past sin, and cleanses us from the inside out. Ezekiel 36:25-26 gives us a picture of the cleansing and then life giving work of the Holy Spirit when we are born again, made new in Christ’s Kingdom. There is no other way to be cleansed from our sin. We must be washed and made new by the Spirit of God. At that point of new birth, our spirit is reborn, connected to the Spirit of the Living God, and we become connected to God through the Holy Spirit. Our life comes through the Spirit, not just mental assent to a number of prepositional truths. Our spirit is reborn and we can now communicate with God. Amazing!
Lord Jesus, thank you for my new birth through the Spirit and for your cleansing, transforming work in me.
