Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Leading Leaders
2 Samuel 23:3-4
“The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: ‘When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, he is like the light of morning…like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.’”
Why did mighty men come to David and pledge to fight for him?
Why were they loyal till death?
What was it about David’s approach to leadership that inspired devotion and sacrifice from other strong leaders?
David lived under the authority of the Lord God Almighty. He recognized that God’s grace had chosen him for leadership and anointed him with the Spirit. David’s righteousness came from God and David responded to this righteousness with humility. The confidence he had in God inspired confidence in those around him. David understood that the Rock of Israel had established him, and would establish his family line forever. He lived with a keen sense of this destiny and blessing. Those around David benefited from this same blessing and favor.
Are we aware of the favor and blessing of God on our lives?
As others are drawn to that righteousness of God in our lives, let us point them to the Source, so they too can find God’s forgiveness and favor and the fear of the Lord.
Lord Jesus Christ, you are my life! Thank you for favor and blessing. I live for your ‘glory and fame’.
