Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
The Name and Presence of the Lord
Psalm 20:1-2
“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.”
Where do we turn when we are in trouble or distress?
The answer to that question reveals our true gods, or God. ‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses.’ The strength of our medical technology, science and engineering has unlocked many mysteries and provided many lifestyle improvements and solutions. However, these can’t free a human heart from anxiety, lust, pride or bitterness. God’s very nature is expressed in his name. The name of Jesus is above every other name. The name of the Lord our God is a strong tower, a source of deliverance and a source of provision and guidance. Those who know God and his name rely on him for all things. They call on the name of the Lord and are saved.
Lord God Almighty, you are my King, my Savior, my Deliverer, my Refuge and my Source of life. You are my Father and my Counselor and your Presence is the first place to which I run.
