Living for God’s Glory and Inheritance
2 Samuel 7:22
“How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.”
Psalm 2:7-8
“…He said to me, ‘You are my son; today I have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession.”
David’s focus was the glory of God and the honoring of his great name. When we focus our lives on living for God’s glory, he is pleased to give us his name. The sovereign King of all the earth and the Creator of all things calls us his sons and daughters! When we make God our inheritance, he shares his inheritance with us. We can ask our Father for the nations as our inheritance. We can ask the Father for their salvation and transformation, that his great name would be hallowed and honored among them. When God’s glory and the honoring of his great name become our focus, his inheritance among the nations becomes our inheritance.
On whose glory is our life focused?
Lord Jesus, thank you for making relationship with the Father possible. Thank you for sharing your inheritance with me. Thank you for a call to proclaim your great name among the nations.
