DAY 116 OF 365

Kingdom DNA

Matthew 13:31-32
“He told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.”

As the smallest of seeds, the mustard seed appears unimpressive and incapable of producing a large tree. Yet within its genetic code, its DNA, is the programming for exponential growth. Multiplication is programmed into its DNA. It’s not size that matters, but DNA. What is birthed of the Spirit has exponential growth potential. David’s kingdom began small with favor, leadership, victory in battle and the opportunity to lead six hundred disgruntled men. Later this movement grew exponentially because David’s DNA of worship, prayer, dependency on God, risk-taking obedience, empowerment of others, equity in rewards and submission to authority – all proved more compelling and powerful than the DNA of Saul’s kingdom and leadership. DNA of a culture reproduces.

Are we carrying the DNA of Christ’s kingdom and values?

Let us not despise the day of small beginnings, even mustard seeds can grow by the power of the Spirit.

Lord Jesus, may your kingdom DNA and your will be done and expressed in my life for your glory.
