Read – Acts 12

Acts 12:22 - 23 "The assembled people began to shout, 'It's the voice of a god, not of a man!' At once an angel of the Lord stuck him because he did not give glory to God, and he was struck down, eaten by worms and died." 

To not give God the glory and try to lift ourselves up above God is a very serious thing. I don't think we recognize just how much God detests those who glorify themselves in place of Him. Also, consider this; the angel of the Lord is the one that stuck him with these worms. As such could some of the hardships in our lives be caused by actions that we take? There are many reasons why hardships come in our lives, but consider the implication that our actions may have caused it. I am not saying that all hardships are ones that are directly caused by our choices, but I am saying that if we look for choice and consequence in our life we may find that we can directly link a hardship we are having to the choice we made. If we can do this does that change the way we look at our hardships? Lord help examine us, show us where we have strayed from you with choices we have made and resulted in hardships in our life and what we can choose to reconcile to you.
