Read To Me Daily Semester 3

DAY 66 OF 82

LAMENTATIONS 4-5:
In yesterday's reading in Lamentations, the sun pierced the dark clouds with this glorious section:

Lam. 3:22 GNT The Lord's unfailing love and mercy still continue,
23 [GNT Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.//NLT Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.]
24 The Lord is all I have, and so in him I put my hope.
25 The Lord is good to everyone who trusts in him,

I have only quoted the most famous part. There are many other precious verses there in chapter 3.

PROVERBS 13a:
Here is a favorite verse from today’s reading in Proverbs:

Pro. 13:7 NLT Some who are poor pretend to be rich;
others who are rich pretend to be poor.

Re-reading EPHESIANS 2:
Let’s take the time to carefully re-read Ephesians 2 today. We have an important spiritual reality expressed in verse 6: Because we are joined as one with Christ, we are already seated with Him, reigning together with Him, in heaven. We don't wait to die to find out if we will get into heaven! We’re already there! In my presentations to groups in Indonesia, I often say, “We’re not sitting on plastic folding chairs in heaven.” Understanding and believing this spiritual reality should transform our prayers. Imagine how your spirit is seated with Christ right now, and pray from your heavenly position.

Let’s pray.
Our heavenly Father,
In sickness, distress, loss, or persecution, Hope returns to us when we remember this one thing:  Your unfailing love and mercy still continue,  Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.  You, Lord are all we have, and so in You I put my hope.  You are good to everyone who trusts in You,  So it is best for us to wait in patience. You have so graciously saved us through our union with Christ, even though we were spiritually dead and your enemies.

You may bring us sorrow, but your love for us is sure and strong.  You, O Lord, know when our spirits are crushed and it is as if we are in prison. You take no pleasure in causing us grief or pain, but are using those things to bring your work in us to completion. So we say with so many others:

Great Is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father!
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for Sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain:
Great Is Thy faithfulness,
Great Is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me!
