Read To Me Daily Semester 3

DAY 68 OF 82

1CHRONICLES 2:
In yesterday’s reading in 1st Chronicles, we traced the line of descendants from Adam to Noah, and then on to Abraham.  Then we heard of Abraham’s two other families, those descending from Keturah and the sons and rulers descended from Esau. So now we’ll take up Jacob’s descendants, but in this book he is frequently called by his other name, Israel. (GNT has used ‘Jacob’ instead in this chapter, as it is more understandable for modern readers.)

PROVERBS 14a:
Chapter 14 of Proverbs has one of my all-time favorite gems of wisdom:

14:4 NLT Without oxen a stable stays clean,
but you need a strong ox for a large harvest.

Re-reading EPHESIANS 3:
Let’s take the time to re-read chapter 3 of Ephesians. With two instances of ‘joined with Christ’ in this chapter, this brings the total to 13 so far in this letter.

Let’s pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, help us to realize the full benefits You have given us by being joined to You, so that we who have now been adopted as children of God will no longer live like orphans. Both 1st John and now this chapter tell us we can come boldly into your presence. While having this confidence, we still— like Paul, fall on our knees. We bow down in reverence before the Father and You, Lord Jesus. Thank you for the power and strength that the Holy Spirit gives. In accordance with the secret that You have made known to us, we pray that we might build our lives on your unfathomable love, and that this love would overflow to people all around us. May we show this love to others in practical ways and words that will bring glory to Christ. Lord Jesus, our world is daily becoming ever more possessed by division and hate. So help us that people will know we are your disciples by our love.
