Read To Me Daily Semester 3

DAY 69 OF 82

1CHRONICLES 3:
So far in 1st Chronicles, we have traced Jakob/Israel’s descendants into the time of David, and today’s reading picks up with David himself.

PROVERBS 3b:
Here is a quote from today’s group of proverbs:

Pro. 3:20 NLT The poor are despised even by their neighbors,
while the rich have many “friends.”

EPHESIANS 4:
Paul’s letters are usually divided into two parts, with the ethereal and theological part first, followed by the practical part. Yesterday we concluded the ethereal and theological part of Ephesians with Paul’s incredible prayer for his readers and for us. And now in chapter 4, we enter the practical part of his letter.

Let’s pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, I am thankful that You have given us a wonderful example in Paul. By this time he had been in prison for about three years, had been taken as a prisoner to Rome— experiencing shipwreck along the way, and was now living under house arrest and chained to a soldier. He says, “Don’t be discouraged because I am suffering for you; it is all for your benefit.” The man who has shared the riches of Christ with us had nothing in this world. The man who teaches us how to boldly enter your presence, was not released from prison, was not healed of his physical affliction, and did not have the joy of preaching to thousands. He could buy parchment and ink, and wrote this letter to us. So, with much gratitude to him, we ask, Lord, that we might better know your love in its height and depth and width the way he did. Even if You do not heal us or give us this world’s riches, may You work in us doing more than we can ever ask or even think of— for Your glory, Christ Jesus!
