Read To Me Daily Semester 3

DAY 72 OF 82

1CHRONICLES 6:
Yesterday in 1st Chronicles, we heard details about the leaders of three tribes: Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

PROVERBS 16a:
Today’s collection of proverbs contains a famous one:

Pro. 16:3 GNT Ask the Lord to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.

Re-reading EPHESIANS 5:
Let’s take time to re-read and meditate on Ephesians 5. Although today’s chapter does not contain an instance of the theme words “joined with Christ”, this chapter contains the highest example and explanation of that oneness.

Let’s pray:
Dear heavenly Father, John said that You are light, and there is no darkness at all in You. Forgive our darkness, Lord! We pray that You would keep us from being fooled by teachers who say it doesn’t matter how we live. They use your generous forgiveness in Christ as an excuse to say that it doesn’t matter if we sin. It matters, all right. Because as John says, “Someone who continues to sin will prove that they are NOT your child and that they never were really part of us.” So let us not be fooled! Help us to get rid of all filthy talk. And teach us how to— in a loving way, expose evil by bringing in your light. Teach us how to bring in your light in such a way that people will want to leave the darkness. And Lord, this chapter encourages us twice to try to find your will for us and to try to find out what we can do to please You. So Lord, may your Spirit guide us so that we will find out the good things you have planned for us that will please You.
