To worship You

God, in all of His glory and unimaginable grace and favor towards us, chooses to respond to us through our worship. Simply put, the reward of our worship is Jesus Himself. This is the promise—that when we worship God with extravagant love and surrender, God will come and commune with us.

The promise is not that we will “feel good” through our worship or that our burdens will be lifted, but that God will come. His presence will be with us. And when God comes in his own time as a response to our worship, Psalm 96:13 (NIV) declares, "Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness."

So today, if life makes you doubt God’s goodness and faithfulness — when people hurt you or betray you, when life’s challenges seem too heavy for you, when your struggle seems too much — remember that we have a person, a living Jesus, who can calm our hearts and give within us trust and courage where fear, doubt and confusion have crept in. Our Jesus is faithful. For as long as He lives — and Jesus will never die again — and our hope is in Him, our hope also lives with Him.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful,” Hebrews 10:23 (NIV).
