Illuminate: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 3: It Takes Faith to Live Illuminated
Are you focused on the problems in your life, or the light (Jesus) inside you? The things we encounter on a daily basis can easily steal our attention away from where it should be. If we hope to be the lights God has called us to be though, it takes faith to believe in that which our eyes may not see in the midst of our circumstances. Take a second and read Hebrews 11:1–40 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, focus on the examples of others who lived faithful lives despite their trying circumstances.
Reflection
Often considered the Faith Hall of Fame, Hebrews 1 walks us through the lives of some people who demonstrated great faith in the face of some pretty tough circumstances. With God’s help and grace though, not only did they overcome, but their light shown bright, illuminating the way for others around them in the process.
- How do you handle adversity?
- How strong is your faith?
- What can you take away from the lives of the individuals listed in Hebrews 11 to help strengthen your faith?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
