Illuminate: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 5: It Takes Passion to Live Illuminated
So you’ve put your faith in Jesus, and you’re committed to the cause. There is still one more piece to this puzzle… PASSION! You cannot live an illuminated life that is characterized by your faith in Jesus and commitment to the cause without passion. It’s just not possible. Take a second and read 1 Samuel 17.1-50 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, pay close attention to David and his response when he hears the Philistine’s mocking his God.
Reflection
We must be passionate about the God we serve. The other day, we were reminded that God saved us, even though we didn’t deserve it. We also saw examples of people in the Bible who lived faithful lives and overcame enormous obstacles. We should be excited because we serve a God who can do incredible and mighty things. And this passion should have us zealous to the point that we want to defend our God, proclaim our God, and praise our God!
Do you remember the last time you were crazy excited? When was it and why?
Are you just as excited about God? Why or why not?
What is keeping you from being even more passionate about your faith?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
