Jesus once again reveals who we are, in light of who He is. Jesus not only offers us true freedom, but also sonship. Not by worth, but by birth! We haven’t earned or deserved “sonship,” but as His grace has extended toward us, we are found as sons and daughters of the Most High God.

It is only through the life and love of Jesus that we arrive to these positions. This was hard for the audience that Jesus is addressing to receive. It can be equally difficult for us, at times, to receive this grace. However, these verses remind us, that the work of the believer is to receive. All of the striving and earning has been completed in the person of the Son!

PRAYER
Lord, help me to receive that gift of belonging as your child, and help me to walk in the freedom that is mine. Let my life reflect the realities of being a child of God, and walk in the freedom that is mine. Help me to not only flourish in these truths, but to also help others understand this great love, acceptance and forgiveness.
