The Book Of John In SongSample
John 10
The Bible contains a lot of sheep and shepherd references, but ONLY JESUS is called the good shepherd. So what is it about Jesus that makes him good?
He knows – John 10:3, 14-15, 27, 30
Jesus knows his sheep individually and intimately. He calls each of them by name. He knows them as he knows God the Father.
He protects – John 10:28
When we place our lives under the care of Jesus, we are safe with him forever. No matter what.
He guides – John 10:4, 27
As we listen to our good shepherd, he shows us a better way to live. When we follow him, our joy is increased and his name is glorified.
He lays down his life – John 10:15, 18
Our good shepherd did not flee when he saw the wolf. He knew of the sacrifice he would have to make on the cross to cover the sins of the sheep and reunite them with the Father. So great was his love for the sheep that he gave his life “of his own accord.”
Are you trusting the good shepherd today?
PRAYER
Jesus, thank you that you know me, protect me, guide me, and have willingly given your life. Help me know your voice and follow, and to live each day more abundantly under your care.
