When Your Child Feels Abandoned

Talk to God
Lord, for my adult child who may feel abandoned when life and rescue speed by, I pray You will show Yourself strong. Help my child realize that You see them and that You are aware of every need. Thank You for walking this earth and experiencing the kind of betrayal and abandonment my child has experienced. You understand us when we hurt. Rescue my child even when others can’t. Bring hope through the fear, shaking, and worry. Be the solid foundation my child needs. I trust You even when I don’t understand Your ways or why You allow my adult child to be in such difficult places. I trust You will not abandon my child. I rest in that truth today. Amen.
Think
Recall a time when you felt abandoned by God, but in retrospect, you can trace His presence in that turmoil. May the reminder of His faithfulness encourage you, knowing God is present with your adult child, even when you can’t see it.

Scroll through your adult child’s social media to find a way to praise them for something they wrote or shared. Be specific in your encouragement, letting them know you appreciate and notice them.
