The Old Testament in 10 DaysSample
The Story Retold
Welcome back to the final day of “The Old Testament in 10 Days.” We have explored the overarching story of the Old Testament while introducing you to trusted guides who are here to help you understand and love the Bible. Last time, Spoken Gospel showed us how, even in Israel’s exile, God was in control. After all, it really is in brokenness and exile that the story of the Old Testament ends. But not without hope.
To help us walk back through the sweeping narrative of the Old Testament, let’s revisit our friends at BibleProject one last time. BibleProject exists to help people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus. You will see this unified story clearly as they take us through the entire Old Testament in just around ten minutes. Watch this.
As BibleProject helped us see, Israel’s story of exile ends with an open-ended promise. The king of Persia claims to have been given dominion over the whole earth. But, he also says that God has given him that dominion to build a place for God’s people to live with him. This is exactly how the Old Testament story began. God gave Adam and Eve dominion over the earth so that they might build a place for God to live with his people.
This is what Jesus accomplished. He is the final king who has full authority over the whole earth. And he has used that authority to create a people who can live with God forever through his death, burial, and resurrection.
You can now continue to your final reading where you will see how the first part of the Old Testament matches the end. How the dominion and plan given to Adam and Eve is carried through to the last book. We hope you’ve enjoyed your walk through the Old Testament. And, we hope you have found a trusted guide or two to help you dive deeper into God’s Word. Make sure to visit the publisher page on this plan to see more from our ministry partners and keep your journey into God’s Word going.
