The Old Testament in 10 DaysSample
As The Bible Recap has helped us see, the Laws given to God’s people are a reflection of God’s own character. As Israel followed these laws, they would help the world see what God was like. This is how God would reestablish Eden and restart his mission to cover the world with his goodness, beauty, and presence.
This mission is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus perfectly embodied God’s commands. He showed us what God is like. And, through his Spirit living in us, Jesus is creating a new nation of followers who fill all nations with God’s image.
You can now continue to today’s reading where you will see what God is like in what he commands. When you’re ready, the next day in the plan will return us to a familiar guide who will walk you through the next part the story—how God plans to live with his people. Remember to visit the publisher page of this plan to explore more from the ministry partners and Bible guides being featured throughout this plan.

Welcome back to “The Old Testament in 10 Days.” We are exploring the overarching story of the Old Testament while introducing you to ministry partners who are here to help you understand and love the Bible. Last time, our friends at Streetlights helped us meditate on the story of Israel’s escape from the evil nation of Egypt. We saw how God called out his chosen nation by saving those who trusted him in the Passover and the Red Sea. Now, God has brought his chosen people to a new Garden of Eden-like mountain where he can bring together his plan to live with his people again.
Today, we see how God plans to equip this people to bring his recreating beauty and order to all nations. To help us, let me introduce you to The Bible Recap. The Bible Recap is a daily podcast that helps Bible Readers like you read, understand, and love Scripture. In the episode you’re about to listen to, host, Tara-Leigh Cobble unpacks a crucial part of the Biblical story. God reveals himself to his people at Mt. Sinai and gives them the Law—outlined in the Ten Commandments. As you will see, these laws are meant to make God’s people into a nation of representatives, who can spread his peace, justice, and image across the whole world. Watch this.
