People followed Jesus everywhere he went. Some followed him to see His miracles, some to get free food, some because they were in awe of the things he said, some because they thought he would overthrow Roman rule, but very few followed him because they wanted to know him personally. He was a novelty to many, free entertainment. Jesus knew this, but he still went from place to place fulfilling God’s purpose. He did it for the few. He was the bread of life, the Messiah who would pave the way between man and God, and most of the people missed it. They were more concerned with what Jesus could do for them instead of knowing him more. This can happen to us as well. We love God’s grace and forgiveness and the peace he brings. We love to see Him provide for our needs, but do we truly know Him?
