DAY 3: PREPARING FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY
Key verse: Then Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.” - Joshua 3:5
In Joshua 3:5, Joshua instructs the Israelites, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” This wasn’t just a suggestion; it was a crucial step in preparing to witness God’s power. Consecration—setting ourselves apart for God’s purpose – positions us to be ready for what He wants to accomplish in and through us.
I remember how my dad used to prepare for marathons. It wasn’t just about running occasionally; he would adjust his diet, commit to daily training, and avoid anything that could risk injury. Every choice was centred around his goal of finishing the race. When I think of that level of commitment, I think about the way we should consecrate our lives to God. Setting ourselves apart for God’s purpose isn’t about casual effort; it’s about intentionally aligning every part of our lives with His will and mission.
Consecrating ourselves can mean surrendering areas that are hard to let go of—like pride, comfort, or unhealthy habits. It may mean setting aside personal ambitions, realigning our schedules, or even reconciling with someone we’ve held a grudge against. It may feel uncomfortable, but they clear the way for God to work. Consecration primes us to fully step into God’s calling and mission.
When we consecrate ourselves, we are preparing our hearts for the amazing things God wants to do through us. A consecrated person is a powerful vessel in the hands of a mighty God. As we take radical steps of surrender and obedience, let’s look forward to experiencing extraordinary breakthroughs and unprecedented miracles.
Response
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the areas of your life that you need to set apart for God’s purpose. Commit these areas afresh to Him today.
