Fear Is Not My Future | 21 Days of Prayer and Fastingഉദാഹരണം
Galatians 5:1 tells us to stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. I wonder if we ever think much about that “liberty” and what it costs.
I’m working my way through Knowing God by J.I. Packer for maybe the fourth time. It’s a great read – for a theologian! I’m currently on a long section on “adoption”. It occurs to me that we often lose sight of all that happens when we get saved.
Have you ever imagined what it must have been like to be Barabas? Suddenly, you are unchained and walk out of your death cell into freedom. Ever wonder if he watched the crucifixion? I wonder if he grasped it all. I wonder if we do.
Remember Daniel – a man who knew much about fasting and prayer – in chapter 10 we hear from an angel “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia”
What a battle!! I wonder what battles go on in the heavens when a person raises their hand to be saved on Sundays. But, once saved, they are secure. They are justified - declared innocent. We are also declared righteous– imagine that! Our sanctification begins. We have satisfied God’s wrath (propitiation– I had to look it up too!)! And if that is not enough, we are ADOPTED – we are kids with Christ. And we get eternal life.
NOW – go STAND in THAT!!!
