Faith, Part 3 of 3ഉദാഹരണം
Persevering in faith by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the Founder and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Believing is not always easy. Christians all too often face opposition from outside. Moreover, they must fight against the sins that keep popping up in their lives. And finally, there is sometimes discipline from the Lord when they are in danger of straying from the right path. In the face of so much adversity, the temptation is great to lose heart and give up. But that should not happen!
Today's Bible verse urges us not to fix our gaze on the difficulties in our lives, but on Jesus, “the Founder and Perfecter of our faith.” He has preceded us in faith so that we can follow Him. He showed us what living according to God's will means. He persevered even when He was mocked, imprisoned, and crucified. He was also the first to reach the final goal of faith: “the joy that was set before Him.” That prospect helped Him endure the severe suffering. Thus, we too may look forward to the joy that awaits us in God's new world, if we believe in the Lord Jesus!
In what ways do you see Jesus as an example? How can you imitate Him in your walk of faith?
