Who is your sporting hero? Did your sports hero become famous sitting around and hoping to win? Of course not! They put in many hours of practice to reach the top.

Practice makes perfect – but we all fail at some point. The writer of Ecclesiastes shows that the secret is to get up and remember God is in charge and wants us to work hard, do our best and appreciate everything he has given us.

Sporting legends are remembered and loved for their achievements all their lives, and often long after, too. Can you think of a sporting great who is no longer alive? What did they do that made them so famous?

Think of someone in the Bible whom you admire: your “Bible legend” and how God was with them, through good times and bad. It’s not only sporting and Bible legends who like to be liked! We are all happy when we are loved. If you are feeling unhappy, remember that God loves you. Totally, without conditions. Because he made you and loves you; because you’re you.
