Uncommon

DAY 40 OF 40

If you think your life is too small, then give all your life to God, serve others, and watch it get bigger.

Three status quos for our lives:

  1. Honor the Lord...

“Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce…” Proverbs 3:9

  1. Look at the interests of others...

“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who... emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant…” Philippians 2:4-7

  1. Give, and it shall be given to you...

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

We are all called to invest our lives not in more stuff on earth but in the things of heaven - compassion, serving, helping others, and honoring God. If the result of what we have been given is invested, then more will be given to us. If the result of what we have been given is used only on ourselves or hidden in fear or blamed by others for our lack of success, even that will be taken from us.

For those of us in Christ, living uncommonly is required. The world may not understand why we live set-apart lives, but they will notice. When the world notices how beautifully different and set on Heaven we are (in every area of our lives), they will ask questions.

When they ask questions, we can give them the perfect answer: Jesus.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. How are you honoring the Lord with your life?
  2. Whose interests need a little more of your attention right now?
  3. What resources do you need to release your grip on and give to someone else? Be specific and come up with a plan.

About this Plan

Uncommon
