SECRET SINS

There is a popular song in children's Sunday School: “Oh be careful little hands what you do… Oh be careful little hands what you do… For the Father up above is looking down in love, oh be careful little hands what you do.” God gives us a heart like a little child so we can understand that whatever we see, everything we hear, every word we say, the places we visit, everything we do will always be under God’s supervision and nothing can be hidden from Him.

After the Israelite's absolute victory in the city of Jericho, Joshua suffered defeat in the battle against the Ai people. How could little Ai be able to defeat the Israelites? Joshua prayed and the Lord told him the root of the problem: “The people of Israel sinned” (Joshua 7:11), they had hidden sin.

God revealed the hidden sin of Achan. For the offense of one man, the whole nation of Israel must bear the consequences because God considered the Israelites no longer obedient to His Command. The Word of God affirms that, “… the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Eventually, Achan was put to death and the land of Ai could be conquered by Israel.

Never play with sin, because the end result is death.
