How To Follow Jesus

DAY 4 OF 8

Disciples call Jesus teacher and Lord.

When we choose to spend time getting to know Jesus, we can learn so much from Him. But Jesus isn’t just a great teacher. He is also Lord.

“Lord” means powerful master and ruler. When Jesus’ disciples choose Him to be their Lord, they’re choosing to belong to Him, depend on His power only, to do things His way, and to be an example of Him to others.

You show Jesus is your teacher and Lord when you choose to make Him most important in your whole life. But how can you tell if Jesus is most important?

Ask yourself, “Do the choices I make bring attention to me and aim to please myself, or do my choices bring attention to Jesus and aim to please Him?”

If your choices are focused on bringing attention to Jesus and pleasing Him, then you’re showing that you’re His disciple!

Watch the video and draw a Bible Sword to help you memorize John 13:13. It will help you remember that we not only learn from Jesus, but we also belong to Him and follow Him only!

Bible Sword

  1. Get a piece of paper and something to write with.
  2. Draw a huge sword on the paper.
  3.  Write all the words from John 13:13 on the sword.
  4.  Put the sword up somewhere you can see it every day.
  5. Practice saying John 13:13 each time you see the sword.

Talk It Over: Is Jesus your teacher and Lord? If He isn’t, what are some things you can do differently to make Him most important in your life? If He is, what do you do to show it?
