Drowning in Doubt?

DAY 3 OF 6

Run Your Race

Hebrews chapter 11 is often called the “honor roll of faith.” When you read the entire chapter, you see example after example of biblical heroes whose lives modeled faith in God.

Every one of these people, from Abraham to Moses to Gideon to Joshua, had one thing in common: they did not know how their stories would end. They did not have absolute certainty about how God was going to move, and they had few guarantees about what the future held. Their faith was based on the hope of what God had promised and what He had done in the past.

The same is true for us. Yet, it is significant to note what immediately follows this great faith chapter. Hebrews 12, beginning in verse 1, says this: "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Because of these past stories of faith, and because of the example of Jesus, we can find faith to endure all things and overcome all our struggles in the present. How can you lay aside the weight of your doubts and run with endurance toward God?

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to me?

● What does it mean to me?

● How can I apply what God is teaching me?

● How can I be specific in prayer today?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
