Life Experiences: Lessons From the Book of LukeSýnishorn
Humility 101
We are all sinners! Being one, we all have the tendency to pull our attention and our effort to our own benefit: SELF-FOCUSED!
We think that the world revolves around us! We think we deserve to be given importance...we would like other people to give us the highest regard!
Jesus knew our nature so well that He gave a simple advise applicable to a very mundane affair, such as going to a party, yet so profound that it will help us practice Humility 101:
1. When you go to a social function, think that someone else is better, greater and more regarded than you are. Do not assume the best seat! If you do, you might be disappointed. Assume to be the least!
2. Should you assume to be not important yet the host think of you highly, you will be given importance. That is much better than you thinking you are important yet the host thinks otherwise...you will be put to shame then!
Prayer for Today: Lord God, I admit that I focus so much on myself that I am self-centered and I put much importance to who I am and what I am.
Forgive me please for being such! Teach me how to become humble, Lord.
Let me focus more on how good You are...not on how good I am! Let me think of You as high above...not how great I am! Let me say 'I am the least...and You are the best!'
Thank you, in Jesus name, who made Himself low so You lifted Him up higher than anyone and everyone...
